EOTD, which I will never wear

While bored on a Sunday afternoon I decided to recreate an eye look I saw on pixiwoo for the 'Drag' look, seriously check out that tutorial its amazing, I'm sure I was a drag queen in a past life I'm obbsessed with all things drag!

I used the Sleek Curacao palette which in my house rarely sees the light of day. Heres the finished look...

I used screwdriver as a base, purple haze and singapore sling in the crease and espresso martini to darken the shading. Martini was the highlighter under the brow.

Pretty sure I'd never wear this look out side of my bedroom, but I might try a similar style thing with neutral colours for a night out soon.

Some new eye shadows

I've started wearing eye shadow almost every day recently, I've always BOUGHT eye shadows I've just never really worn them but now is the time! So the new 'eye shadow wearing me' obviously had to go out and buy some more!!! and here they are...

From left to right. Mac Star Violet, Benefit leggy, Benefit Fawn over me, No7 Pewter and No7 Buff.
Swatches, left to right, Star Violet, Fawn over me, leggy, buff and pewter.
Star violet is my first ever Mac shadow, its just the most beautiful metallic burgundy. Although swings alittle pink when its on the eyes too.

Fawn over me, I always use this colour on customer at work so I decided to get it. Its really suits anyone with green or brown eyes, and makes the most amazing base for smokey eyes, or any purple colours. The Benefit powder shadows need a primer because there hold isn't amazing but they are lovely and soft in texture, described as 'Velvet finish'.

Leggy is another great base to build darker colours on top of. It suits blue or lighter eyes better than my darker ones but its really brightening.

Buff and Pewter... I love these cream shadows, they were part of the autumn collection but I hope they bring out more colours because they are amazing value. I got them with my No7 voucher and staff discount so they were like crazy cheap. They stay on so well, seriously all day with no creasing. Buff also makes an amazing primer. Both colours only have a really slight shimmer so they perfect for day time. These colours were limited edition but alot of counter still have them in a draw if you ask them.

I also bought the new Sleek nude palette, but if you need to see another photo of that then you have obviously been living in a cardboard box for a month and don't really need to see it :-P

L'oreal One sweep eye shadow

Back in May I blogged about a L'oreal "Gadget" product I was interested in checking out, have a look here. Well surprise surprise, I bought it while I was in America recently and here it is.

Its the L'oreal one sweep eye shadow in 809 "natural for brown eyes".
Here's what L'oreal have to say about it: "Unique applicator applies 3 shades in one sweep to define, colour and highlight eyes." I say.....Bit of a fail! It doesn't really work, the applicator is too stiff and the colours just blend into one. Here is what it looks like on, although looking at this picture it looks like it works slightly better than it looks in the mirror haha!
The thing that saves it how ever is that the colours are beautiful and work really nicely together. They are really soft and metallic, they almost look like creams when swatched (top 3 are the colours separately and below is applied with the applicator.)
I also love the cute little mirror that is packaged inside under the applicator. I will be using these colours again but unfortunatly the applicator will probably go in the bin and out with come the 217!

Sleek obsession continues

I'm a little late posting about these but I picked up the Monaco and Oh so special palette before I went on holiday and didn't get a chance to photograph them. So if you need one last convincing to buy them then here are my swatches (they are still available on the website).

Monaco:

And although its an awful drunken photo, and my best friend will probably never speak to me again, here is a look I did with Sand walker, Aqua Marine and Magenta madness from the palette.
I actually restrained from buying the rest of the collections, I'm a peach girl, not a pink... and definitely not a fushia

Oh so special:

I don't even need to rave about these palettes, I love every single one. I do agree with other people when they say that the quality of the matte powders isn't quite as good as the shimmers though.

And finally with a quote from my boyfriend.... "Surely there isn't any more colour left to make".... I go off to buy the Caribbean collection...

Chanel Autumn/winter 2011-12 Collection

Got some very exciting pictures of the Autumn Chanel colours, and of course the new must have nail varnish colours. I love Chanel's seasonal colours!

Polishes, how beautiful does Graphite look?:

And the bit I'm most excited about... the Illusion D'Ombre, shimmery cream/gel eyeshadows:

Any bits caught your eye? It makes me sick thinking how much I'm probably going to spend when this launches!

Let them eat 'Peche'

I think Sleek are basically on a one brand mission to bankrupt me with all these new launches!

The newest collection is called Avoir la Peche and paraguaya is this palette. The collection also contains a nude/coral coloured lip conditioner and the blusher which I was going to buy but Superdrug didn't have it yet.... boo them!

I almost missed this palette if it wasn't for Adrienne at http://thecrazybitchbeautygazette.blogspot.com/ reminding me it was out!!! Thank you!

I didn't even want to touch the shadows, they looked good enough to eat :) but I did and once again what a beautiful mixture of nudes and extreme colours to suit everyone! I think the bright orange could put people off, but try dabbing it over red lippy to give a great matte coral effect, very on trend!

Here are some looks I found from s/s 2011 shows that could use colours from this palette:

Versace

Narciso Rodriguez

Dior

D&G (using the orange on the lips)

Carolina Herrera

Sleek - The Primer Palette

I told myself today that I couldn't buy any more products until I had finished blogging about all my new bits from this month... so be prepared to be bombarded!

I saw this palette on a few blogs of people who had been to the IMATS and obviously being a sleek obsessive I had to have it. I actually interrupted my boyfriends valentines day surprise to pop into Superdrug to buy it on the first day! Oops!
For anyone who hasn't seen it, its a palette of coloured eye shadow primers. Although to be perfectly honest I've been using them as cream shadows because I really like the smooth metallic finish they give.
Heres the swatches of the colours:

It doesn't last an amazingly long time, about a half a working day or a evening out. I have been putting alittle bit of Benefit 'Stay don't Stray' primer under to stick it down but it definitely works to intensify colour. Look what it did to the purple shadow from the sleek bad girl palette!! (Primer on top, no primer on bottom)

I am dying with excitement for the next sleek collection 'avoir la Peche' seen below. This includes a new palette (filled with corals and browns), a new blusher and a nude pout pot! And its all coming out on the 16th March, 2 days after my birthday.... how perfect :-)

Friday's Chanel purchases

On Friday two great events collided, pay day and Chanel's spring colour launch.... its safe to say my bank account took a battering!

I bought the limited edition eye palette 'Ombres Perlees de Chanel' (£39) shown below and the varnish 'black pearl' (£17.50)

The eye shadows are very soft and because of this go on way better with a sponge applicator so dont bother trying to use a fancy brush. The colours had a very metallic finish to them which could put some people off, it you dont like the shimmer I really recommend the spring quad too.

The white/pearl shadow makes the eyes look loads bigger and brighter and the darker colours can make a really unusual smokey eye because they are slightly green. I think the colour I might use the least is the middle purple just because I have an irrational fear of purple eye shadow, but at almost £8 a shadow I might force myself!

I love the new varnish colour, which for once has come out alright in the photo, its a dark green/grey colour, with a metallic finish. The varnishes have great hold, mine has been in almost in perfect condition since Friday! The only problem with this colour is that the whole world and its wife has bought it at Boots so we all look like twinnies!

The new guy..

Swoooooooon! Another Sleek palette is launched to add to the ever growing collection....
This one is called 'Sparkle', £5.00 @ Superdrug, and its basically some very nice colours from other palettes but filled with glitter.... what is there not to like?
The names of the colours have a festive twist, they are called: (top to bottom, left to right) Cranberry, Dream maker, Galactic, Twinkle, Star Light, Nior, Illusion, Festive, Mistletoe, Glitz & Glamour, Gold Ribbon and Tinsel. My favs are Illusion, Festive and Twinkle although as I am with all these palettes I'll probably only use the greys and blacks!

For anyone new to the Sleek Palette phenomenon, they are highly pigmented eye shadows from this cheapo brand in Superdrug which I am OBSESSED with and would recommend anyone to buy! They are amazing for getting crazy, as well as smoky colours and they stay on really well.

Does anyone else love the Sleek palettes as much as me?

Starry Eyed

I purchased this eye shadow trio, 17's Starry Eyes in Neptune £4.99, after reading a good review online. Well all I can say is they were wrong!
The colours in this trio look lovely swatched (below), but even with a great primer like Benefit's stay don’t stray the colour just didn’t come out very strong and they were impossible to keep separate and turned a washy browny/grey when mixed together. I am going to give it another go but I think its eye shadow heaven for these guys.
