NOTD Revlon Smoky Canvas

Firstly I have to start by saying sorry that I have been MIA lately. Its not that I haven't wanted to blog and its definitely not that I haven't got anything to blog about because the spending has not stopped. Its just with working full time and commuting to work, its so dark when I get up and dark when I come home, and my camera isn't fantastic so I'm not really getting any time to take any photos :(. So I apologise if some of photos in the up coming posts are super rubbish, I've just had to settle with un-natural light and the flash to get what I want. Anyway.... moving on...

Smoky Canvas is the quieter sister in the new fall colour collection from Revlon. Its has been rather over shadowed by the Oh so beautiful 'Facets of Fushia'. Its a subtle, lilac/grey. To be honest it looked far more lilac under the Boots lighting so I was a little disappointed with the colour when I got home. However it is a great neutral and as always with the Revlon varnishes the formula is fantastic.

17 magnetized

On Friday I picked up the new 17 magnetized nail varnish in 'Green'. To be honest I was just so fascinated in how it worked I couldn't leave Boots without it.

So you paint the varnish on as normal (I left one coat un-magnetised then applied another), then straight away while its wet hold the magnet (in the lid) over the nail... and this is the finished result...
Pretty cool, I really love it and at £5.99 what a bargain! Only thing I would say is caution if your like me and your varnish normally chips before you open the front door in the morning, because of the art effect, every time it chips you have to completely remove the polish and start again. It does dry super fast which doesn't make it such a pain in the arse.

All of the colours in the range were beautiful jewel colours, perfect for autumn.

N('s)OTD, new essie colours

Here is the start of the bits that I bought on holiday! Two Essie nail varnishes in Trophy wife (left) and merino cool (right). I've never tried Essie varnishes before, but one of my fav bloggers Vivianna always raves about them so I thought I'd give them a try.

Trophy wife, is a pearl aqua greeny blue. Its not really the kind of colour I normal go for, TBH I actually don't think I even own a nail varnish with shimmer in so its quite a change for me, but I love it. I took a piccy while we were on a black sand beach in Hawaii!

And Merino cool is a mushroom brown/grey with a purple tone. The colour looks more true in the picture below than the top one!

Once again... Boots have conned me into buying stupid amounts of something because of a free gift.

EXHIBIT B would only be a picture of my empty purse after spending TEN POUNDS on deoderant. In short, Dove and Boots are giving away a nails inc varnish with 2 deoderants, and two really lovely coloured varnishes too!

About a month ago me and a friend went to the beauty UK trade show and I bought a stupid amount of nail varnishes so here are some of them from China glaze:

Opps cant believe I forgot to put the colour names in haha..... from left to right 'IV', 'Diva Bride', 'Peachy Keen' and 'Shocking pink (neon)'

I have never used China Glaze polishes before, but I wont be looking back now! The colours are amazing, so many pastels...right up my street!

The texture is very runny, the polish did get away from me a few times haha! but the colours are so strong, and they dry very smooth. And even on my "30 seconds after leaving the house" chipping nails, it lasted 2 whole days, which means on a normal human you could get like a week out of them!!
Sorry about the quality of some of the photos, I took them as I was leaving for work every week.

Chanel Autumn/winter 2011-12 Collection

Got some very exciting pictures of the Autumn Chanel colours, and of course the new must have nail varnish colours. I love Chanel's seasonal colours!

Mink 17 supreme shine

I went on abit of a nail varnish buying frenzy, which will probably explain the next few posts... I bought 17's supreme shine nail varnish in 'mink' and it cost me a bargain-alicious £3.99 (its also on 3 for 2). WOW.... a really really great polish, especially for the price, it stayed on, chip free with no topcoat for about 3 days, and it only started to chip after that because I was so amazed that I started to pick at it (as a test :-S). So, anyone with a little more patience than me could probably get the promised "10 day wear" out of it.

I love this colour, and now I know how good it is I will definitely be buying some more!

Friday's Chanel purchases

On Friday two great events collided, pay day and Chanel's spring colour launch.... its safe to say my bank account took a battering!

I bought the limited edition eye palette 'Ombres Perlees de Chanel' (£39) shown below and the varnish 'black pearl' (£17.50)



The eye shadows are very soft and because of this go on way better with a sponge applicator so dont bother trying to use a fancy brush. The colours had a very metallic finish to them which could put some people off, it you dont like the shimmer I really recommend the spring quad too.

The white/pearl shadow makes the eyes look loads bigger and brighter and the darker colours can make a really unusual smokey eye because they are slightly green. I think the colour I might use the least is the middle purple just because I have an irrational fear of purple eye shadow, but at almost £8 a shadow I might force myself!

I love the new varnish colour, which for once has come out alright in the photo, its a dark green/grey colour, with a metallic finish. The varnishes have great hold, mine has been in almost in perfect condition since Friday! The only problem with this colour is that the whole world and its wife has bought it at Boots so we all look like twinnies!

In Boots at the moment you can get a free Nails Inc polish, worth about £10 when you buy 2 bottles of diet coke! Here are the colours:

They are called Caramel, Denim, Plum and Heather grey.... and I got all 4 :-). I love nails inc varnishes because they dry super fast and the colours are really opaque and completely matte. I cant really say alot for their staying power, but to be honest I destroy any nail varnish after 2 hours at work!

Now I've just got to work out what I'm going to do with 8 bottles of coke....
