New lippies

When I first started writing this blog, I took a picture of my whole lipstick collection, fiddled around with the effects on Photoshop and made it into my blog banner......yep, read that again MY WHOLE LIPSTICK COLLECTION. I was a total gloss/balm girl, never really wore lipstick at all. Fast forward to the present....... and this is what my lipstick draw looks like now. It had a growth spurt. And here are 3 newbies about to find their home in this draw. Left to right, Elf all over colour stick in Pink Lemonade, Barry M lip paint in number 147 and Sleek's true colour sheen lipstick in Cherry.
Swatches:
This is 'Cherry' on, its a dark purpley/red although these kinda colours always come out redder in photos. I bought this lipstick to replace one that my sister managed to put in the washing machine! I love these formulas, I raved on about them when they came out. They are my go to range for strong pigmented colours.

Barry M lip paint, great matte peachy/coral. Formula is know for being quite drying, but abit of carmex does the trick although its not as opaque over a balm.
The all over colour stick is probably the first time on this blog I will say that I don't actually like a product. It was silly really, I put down the coral version of this stick saying "I have too many corals" and picked out this frosted pink. Well it turns out the reason I have alot of corals is because I prefer them to pink... rookie mistake and its frosted.... arghhhh what was I thinking. The formula itself is lovely, quite thick so gives good pigment and they smell lovely and fruity. I did have a little play with it on my cheeks (shown below) and this is where I'll use it from now on. Its a nice compact stick though, great for travel and my make an appearance on an up coming camping trip!

Sleek Aruba

I'm not going to tell you about the Curacao palette, becasuse the world and his wife has swatched it and obviously I'm going to love it so bla bla bla. But I am going to show you some piccys of another item from the collection that people aren't so sure about.... The Aruba blusher.
I really like the formula of these blushes, they are powder, but not overly talcy, and they have the most insane pigment, a little goes such a long way. Now I've seen alot of people descibe this as "coral".... come on folks, I know that coral is a little bit more 'pretty' explanation but this blusher is down right ORANGE and lets not kid ourselves.
This swatch is applied heavily on the bottom and blended slightly on the top.
And here is what it looks like on me...

Really love this.... you do have to be careful in the application, a little too much and it can look like face paint/ oom pa lumpa skin.... but coral is the new pink and now orange is definitely the new coral!

Sleek obsession continues

I'm a little late posting about these but I picked up the Monaco and Oh so special palette before I went on holiday and didn't get a chance to photograph them. So if you need one last convincing to buy them then here are my swatches (they are still available on the website).

Monaco:

And although its an awful drunken photo, and my best friend will probably never speak to me again, here is a look I did with Sand walker, Aqua Marine and Magenta madness from the palette.
I actually restrained from buying the rest of the collections, I'm a peach girl, not a pink... and definitely not a fushia

Oh so special:

I don't even need to rave about these palettes, I love every single one. I do agree with other people when they say that the quality of the matte powders isn't quite as good as the shimmers though.

And finally with a quote from my boyfriend.... "Surely there isn't any more colour left to make".... I go off to buy the Caribbean collection...

Sleek Luminaire Highlight Concealer

With me being abit of a Sleek addict I had to pick up the new concealer when it arrive in Superdrug. Its my life long struggle to find the perfect concealer for under the eyes as I have very dry under eyes, with large dark circles.
At first, I'll be honest, I wasn't actually very impressed, it felt abit thick, if you compare it to classics like 'Touche Eclat' and the colour looked very light (I got a L02, 2nd lightest shade). But as I started to take photos for this blog post my opinion started to change! Its great... the thickness means its actually a conceals as well and the colour seems to darken slightly when it starts to dry.

Look at this photo if you need proof: left side = yuk! right side = fresh!

I think its maybe slightly dry on my eyes, but fine if used straight over a eye cream. I'd really recommend this if your looking for a darker colour shade too because Sleek always do an amazing range.

How did anyone else find this product? Love at first use or growing on you like me?

Sleek True colour lipsticks

Obviously it was only really a matter of time before I got these lipsticks. The hardest thing I've done in my life though was choosing only two colours out of the range of 20. The range includes 10 matte colours and 10 sheens, so I decided to try one of each. It was 2 for £5.99 so obviously I had to buy two!.
I got Barely There from the sheen range, I seriously own about 30 lipsticks that look like this colour but when its on it looks alot more peachy, you can see this in the photo. The texture is beautiful, the colours really intense so even on my dark natural lips it covers. It lasts really well, I probably had it on about 2 hours before topping up. The only thing I can say I don't like about these lipsticks is the smell... they don't really have a scent so they smell like the kinda cheapo lipsticks you had when you were little.

From the matte range I got Heartbreaker, a VERY VERY hot pink, somethin Gothic barbie would wear (as my sister described it). This is one of my favourite beauty buys in ages, its just sooooo matte!!!! Its like a powder on the lips you cant roll your lips together when you have it on they just stick! It just looks so different from other lip colours and now I basically just want to buy the whole matte range!

here are the swatches for the colours I bought:There is definitely a colour on this range for everyone and at £3.99 each these bad boys are cheap as chips... go check them out!

Any got theirs? what colours did you get/love?

FINALLY got my hands on it!

After daily visits to Superdrug I finally got the Sleek blush from the avoir la peche colletion called Pan Tao! and how it was worth the wait!!! A+ for the packaging, its pretty, and unlike other Sleek products it actually says what it is on the front (makes it much easier to find in the draw full of other Sleek face products!!!) I know by now its bla bla bla Sleek can do no wrong for me, but sorry its going to be like that again! I love this blusher..... the colour is mega off-putting, its basically bright orange, but you can see from the swatches it is more corally and can be blended. Its such a summery colour. It is completely matte, giving you the option to add shimmer or leave it out if you want. Obviously if your a light pink kinda gal, this isn't for you but the actual texture of the blushes is fantastic, really buildable and blendable so if this colour isn't for you still check out the range (the colour actually called 'coral' is beautiful too)

Here it is on:

Let them eat 'Peche'

I think Sleek are basically on a one brand mission to bankrupt me with all these new launches!

The newest collection is called Avoir la Peche and paraguaya is this palette. The collection also contains a nude/coral coloured lip conditioner and the blusher which I was going to buy but Superdrug didn't have it yet.... boo them!

I almost missed this palette if it wasn't for Adrienne at http://thecrazybitchbeautygazette.blogspot.com/ reminding me it was out!!! Thank you!

I didn't even want to touch the shadows, they looked good enough to eat :) but I did and once again what a beautiful mixture of nudes and extreme colours to suit everyone! I think the bright orange could put people off, but try dabbing it over red lippy to give a great matte coral effect, very on trend!

Here are some looks I found from s/s 2011 shows that could use colours from this palette:

Versace

Narciso Rodriguez

Dior

D&G (using the orange on the lips)

Carolina Herrera

Sleek - The Primer Palette

I told myself today that I couldn't buy any more products until I had finished blogging about all my new bits from this month... so be prepared to be bombarded!

I saw this palette on a few blogs of people who had been to the IMATS and obviously being a sleek obsessive I had to have it. I actually interrupted my boyfriends valentines day surprise to pop into Superdrug to buy it on the first day! Oops!
For anyone who hasn't seen it, its a palette of coloured eye shadow primers. Although to be perfectly honest I've been using them as cream shadows because I really like the smooth metallic finish they give.
Heres the swatches of the colours:

It doesn't last an amazingly long time, about a half a working day or a evening out. I have been putting alittle bit of Benefit 'Stay don't Stray' primer under to stick it down but it definitely works to intensify colour. Look what it did to the purple shadow from the sleek bad girl palette!! (Primer on top, no primer on bottom)

I am dying with excitement for the next sleek collection 'avoir la Peche' seen below. This includes a new palette (filled with corals and browns), a new blusher and a nude pout pot! And its all coming out on the 16th March, 2 days after my birthday.... how perfect :-)

Another sleek purchase....

Its no secret that 'Sleek' is my absolute favourite cheapo brand and today I added another product to my collection, the Face contour kit in Light (£6.50).
Ever since I was introduced to it at college I've always been totally shit at contouring, but obsessed with knowing how to do it because I have no cheek bones! After watching many pixi woo tutorials on you tube I decided to have another go at it.
This set is great because the shader is totally matte, which is often hard to find, and the highlighter only has a slight shimmer, not as shiny as products like High beam.
However the set doesn't come with a brush which is abit rubbish, although saying that they usually but really poor quality brushes in these sort of sets so maybe that's kind of a positive!

Heres me having a little go, although I have put far too much on because the colour wasn't showing up on camera (excuse the pajamas!)

Really good product if you have never tried contouring before, especially because it comes with a how to guide!

The new guy..

Swoooooooon! Another Sleek palette is launched to add to the ever growing collection....
This one is called 'Sparkle', £5.00 @ Superdrug, and its basically some very nice colours from other palettes but filled with glitter.... what is there not to like?
The names of the colours have a festive twist, they are called: (top to bottom, left to right) Cranberry, Dream maker, Galactic, Twinkle, Star Light, Nior, Illusion, Festive, Mistletoe, Glitz & Glamour, Gold Ribbon and Tinsel. My favs are Illusion, Festive and Twinkle although as I am with all these palettes I'll probably only use the greys and blacks!

For anyone new to the Sleek Palette phenomenon, they are highly pigmented eye shadows from this cheapo brand in Superdrug which I am OBSESSED with and would recommend anyone to buy! They are amazing for getting crazy, as well as smoky colours and they stay on really well.

Does anyone else love the Sleek palettes as much as me?
